WHO PAID THE FUNNY MONEY?

This is just a  SAMPLE of SOME of the ‘FUNNY MONEY’   or so-called

SIN TAX  that was paid into the Coffers of the CITY of PEORIA.

It usually amounted to $73,000.00 to $96,000.00 a year.

Empire Room…$18,000.00                     Saratoga…$5,250.00

G.C. Rooksby…$500.00                     It Club…$4,750.00

Club Gig-Gallux…$4,250.00                      Sportsman Club…$5, 250.00                            John  Smith   $250.00                    H.L. Lamb…$250.00

Talk O’ Th’ Town…$250.00             Lyceum…$4,750.00

J. Swain…$4,500.00                                 John Snyder…$250.00

                               AND  MANY, MANY  MORE

As I said just a sample…this went on for many years…not only when Woodruff was mayor for a total of 24 years  but other mayors as well.   It all ended during May  1945.  Triebel refused to accept it but he did not STOP gambling in Peoria until  9-3-1946.
