                    UNSOLVED   MURDER  SUMMARY

                                NORMAN   V    KELLY

 

Winter of 1922  Railroad detective working to protect the box cars during Prohibition.  Confronted a suspicious guy and they had a gun battle.  Detective Gifford was shot and killed.    Unsolved

 

1922  During Prohibition  Closed Brewery night watchman.  He was killed by a gunman.  Nothing taken   Police unable to ascertain the motive.       Last name of the guard was  SZOLDS.     Unsolved

 

11-1930          CORA  GARRISON  They  lived on McClure, Clyde and Cora…Pulled into driveway  From Bushes   hold it right there Clyde

Pulled his gun  pushed Cora they opened fire.  ( Machine guns  of course)  Clyde hit in leg Cora  one slug to head:  Unsolved.

 

8-2-1930    Shoot out inside a car in downtown Peoria:  Officer Robert Koegel was shot several times but lived;  HENRY FASH Was killed.  The killers… a man and a woman ran off down the street. Confiscated a farmers car.                                                      UNSOLVED

 

1-18-1938    Anton  ‘Tony’ Miller…Locksmith…Police claim he made master keys to local Slots and sold them.  He was gunned down in his backyard of his home on Madison Street…Shot gun blasts. “I think the gamblers finally got me.”     Unsolved.

 

2-21-1946   Frank Kramer a tavern owner was shot through the glass windows of his porch.  3 rifle shots to wrist and chest.  Unsolved.

 

9-1946  Well know police character and two-bit thug Joel NyBerg was beaten and shot.  His body was found up at the Lacon Golf Club.  He was out on parole for manslaughter.   Unsolved.

 

10-25-1946  Phillip Stump a ‘gangster wanna be’ left the Stork Club on Big Hollow Road after fixing the taverns slot machines. He was followed and he drove into a field.  Four men in a car chased him…All firing Machine guns…of course…Car was hit 8 times.  One.38 slug hit Stumpf in the head killing him…one slug hit his companion in the left ear.   

Unsolved.

 

5-1947  Bradley Park…Olive Baker…a married woman parked with a man   not her husband around eleven at night.  Right there by the tennis courts.  A bandit with a small pearl handed revolver tore open the door and demanded money.  Olive reached up and pulled the Bandana from his face…”I’m not afraid of you”

Bang  she was shot dead.                                    Unsolved.    

 

7-28-1948  In the parking lot near a tavern  more like what we used to call a Dive…Shot for the wooded area that leads to up to a cemetery.  He was shot in the back…took out his spleen.  He died 40 minutes later never officially solved.    Charlie ‘Blackie’ Harris                         UNSOLVED
