some money he’d be right out…
OTT slaughtered the wife and 2 kids…Posse went out
after somebody with the idea to make sure they brought back alive OTT and
Greene…before they left Greene told them what he had seen Ott do that is pick up something in the yard and go
into the house that is all they needed…
They found OTT
he escaped on a buggy and they found him again in a cornfield near Lincoln
Huge Mob
surround the little sheriff’s office
at night they slipped him over to Pekin
Another mob when rumor of Change of venue brought men women and kids to surround the
courthouse judge told them that he would
keep the trial right there…
OTT…said That
mob will be my jury I might as well plead guilty
His lawyer told him they will hang u anyway…
OTT: I just
don’t want the mod getting their hands on me…that’s all. “
HANGING: a

THE GALLOWS DRESSED IN A WHITE ROBE

ddptuty they stood staring out at the crowd a few heckled but they were eerily quiet..
He sheriff Said;
Any last words
In a strong voice OTT said: I
Alone am responsible for this DASTARDLY act…I hope I meet my friends in
heaven”
Met by yells and jeers…

Hangman put on the hood, the rope adjusted it and the
prisoner over the trapdoor Trap door
Opens…
Some of the crowd began to walk away some came back the body turned in the breeze at
11:20
Finally the
doctors agreed that the man was dead…
Green
was not charged..
A reporter reported in a column….When I told OTT that
the mob had broken down the fences and the stockade that surrounded the
gallows OTT SAID
“Now that is a
good joke on hanging” Have no
idea what that meant…
And now next
was the Civil War….
